In a recent tutorial, Icon Bootcamp, I mentioned that you can leverage graphics found in symbol fonts such as Web Dings, Wing Dings, and Zapf Dingbats. I’ve selected 1/2 dozen fonts and made a key so that you can spot the symbols at a glance (as opposed to selecting the font and then typing the alphabet to view the symbols).
You can get the .doc file here. These sheets can be used to profile any font face really. Just highlight one of the rows and then select a type face. For example, take a look at page 6 of 6. There I highlighted each row and selected Bauhaus 93 (which comes with MS Office). This produces a nice reference page.
Have you got a favorite symbol font or type face? If so, please add it via the comments here.
These are exciting times for Flash Lite publishers. But before you can distribute and sell your apps, they need to be properly packaged and signed. Watch the entire series in approx. 1/2 hr and you’ll be ready to publish.
If you’re like me, just starting out in After Effects and a little over-whelmed by the interface, I’ve got a great tip for you. Check out the basic tutorials at: http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/ They’re FREE and will get you building something sexy in less than 40min. I’d rave about them more… but I need to get back to Part II of the Titles tutorial. Am half way to building the demo above and am learning a ton along the way!
