According to a recent article in The London News, 2008 has already given the English language more than 100 new words. Top of the list is “Cripes” meaning surprise or shock. This year…” it was the trademark of Boris Johnson’s bid for the mayorship” stated the paper. The top ten are listed below:

Doomers – Pessimistic individuals
Boytox – The trend for men to have Botox
Nomophobia – The fear of being out of mobile contact
Googleability – The ease with which a name or subject can be found on Google
Nonebrity – A person who has celeb status without any apparent reason
Scuppies – Socially conscious urban professionals
Framily – Friends who are as close as family
Glamping – A luxurious form of camping
Moofer - Acronym for mobile out-of-office worker
